Anniversary #6 - Tijuana

Brett and I were able to sneak away for the weekend of our Anniversary this year to Tijuana, Mexico. Neither of us had been since we were younger and we thought it would be a fun little getaway.  Turns out we were correct in our thinking; we had a great time.  We flew into San Diego and rode the train to the border.  We took our scooters and walked across the border.  We then rode our scooters 3 miles to the Marriott hotel.  They gave us a nice upgraded room with a balcony and free breakfast.

Once we were checked into the hotel, we ventured out to find a taco truck for dinner.  That really was the whole reason we wanted to go down there.  We just wanted some delicious authentic street tacos. We couldn't find a taco truck that night, but were able to find a little restaurant to get some tacos.  We were not disappointed!

We enjoyed our free breakfast at the hotel.  The highlights of the buffet were the fresh guava, fresh pineapple, and the fresh pineapple cactus juice.  The cactus juice was my absolute favorite!  The rest of the morning we enjoyed the pool, hot tub, read our books, and napped in the morning until it was time to check out of the hotel.

We scootered back to the border and ventured through the shops for a while.  Brett bought a couple Mexico jerseys which he has enjoyed wearing on the days Mexico played in the World Cup just barely.  The line to get back into the U.S. was REALLY long so we headed there straight away so we would make it back in time for our flight. We bought things from the food vendors all along the way. We had a bag of churros, about 10 more tacos from a taco truck, etc...  Super yummy!  After waiting in the REALLY long line for about 3 hours, we finally made it back across the border.  We rode the train and bus back to the airport and flew back home.  Chalk that down for a successful weekend trip. :)
