Princess Cruise: February 24 - March 1

Brett and I had always wanted to go on a cruise and we finally found one at a great price at a time we could go.  Brett's parents decided it was time for another cruise for them as well, so we all went together.

Brett and I flew in Saturday evening and we went to dinner with some friends of Brett's parents that evening.  The following day we went to church in the morning and then one of their friends took us kayaking/snorkeling out in the ocean right off the beach that afternoon.  We got to play around with his spear gun and he even caught us a lobster!  We cooked it that night and we all ate a little piece.  They also cooked us an amazing Italian dinner.  We were spoiled for sure!

We all boarded the Ruby Princess at the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida port on Monday morning.  The cruise had 3 scheduled stops in the Carribean.  Nassau, Bahamas; Princess Cays; and Grand Turk. We ate way too much food, watched lots of great shows on the ship, relaxed and watched movies on the deck under the stars, played mini golf, ran in the gym every day so we could eat more food, snorkeled our hearts out at every stop, and had an amazing time!  We definitely love cruises. Having milk and cookies delivered to your room for free just because you can, is pretty great.

Nassau, Bahamas
The first stop was in Nassau. We scootered to the first non-busy beach and snorkeled.  We found sand dollars, star fish, golf balls, etc... We then built a sand castle and enjoyed the perfect blue water.

Brett finds golf balls everywhere we go!!! Even in the middle of the Carribean ocean. :)

Princess Cays
The 2nd stop was Princess Cays. This is an island that the Princess Cruise Line owns.  In order to get to the island, we rode the tenders ashore.  They lowered them down from the ship and used them to ferry people back and forth all day.  It was pretty neat to get to ride in the emergency boats.  They have all sorts of fun sea toys on the island and plenty of room to lounge.  We snorkeled, played in the sand, and just read our books while relaxing by the ocean.  They had a barbecue on the island that we had for lunch.

Grand Turk
The last stop was Grand Turk.  We hiked to the East side of the island in hopes to find some great snorkeling along the beach.  It turned out to be too shallow, but we did find the below pile of conch shells.  We figure the local restaurants must dump the shells out after they use them.  It looked really cool either way.  We then hiked back to the beach area closer to the ship.  There are a lot of conch shells in this place! The beach was filled with them.  We snorkeled the southwest point of the island and then played a little chess.  I'm happy to report I won our giant game of chess!

Food on the ship

We each ordered at least 2 entrees every night.  All the plates barely fit on the table.
