St. George Adventures

This semester Brett and I had one of our classes in St. George on the Dixie State Campus.  We had to take it down there because the class in Cedar City was already full. We were kind of bummed at first when we found out we would have to drive down there once a week, but it turned out to be my favorite day of the week! We both arranged our work schedules so we were able to drive down to St. George either Sunday night or early Monday morning.  We would often spend the whole day Monday there, and then occassionally stay until Tuesday morning.

The condo has been getting rented out a lot the last couple of months as well, so it worked out perfectly that we could get it cleaned each week while down there as well.
One of the days we went mountain biking it was freezing cold, windy, and rainy! I convinced Brett, Derek, and Melissa to go because I really wanted to but I'm pretty sure we all got colds afterward.  We were soaked to the bone and covered in mud, which was super fun, but still really cold. :)
This humdinger of a snake tried to get me.... I was minding my own business looking at the petroglyphs, stepped around the corner of a rock (right where his head is), luckily looked down just in time to see his head start rising off the ground.  I jumped a mile in the air, my stomach curled, and I ran!  Brett and Derek just stared at me wondering what I was doing and then hurrily grabbed the camera to take pictures of him.

The weather in St. George is always at least 10 degrees warmer than in Cedar City, so Monday's turned into our golfing/mountain biking/hiking days.  If we didn't have too much time we would just take our clubs to Green Springs Golf Course and practice for an hour or so.  On the days we had more time we went mountain biking by ourselves or with our friend Derek that lives down in St. George.

One of our favorite trails to bike is the Green Valley Loop, also called BearClaw Poppy Trail.  It's a fun 11.5 mile loop cruiser, although if you do the full loop you do have to ride on the road part of the way.  All the pictures with the petroglyphs are from a trail called the Anasazi Trail which is about 6.6 miles total out and back.  You have to ride to the top of the plateau and then get to ride back down.  So it is a lot of work at first but is worth it in the end.

We got to golf the Sand Hollow Golf Course because we got some discounted passes.  We golfed 9 holes on the Links Course which is designed after the old English walking courses with stacked stone walls and all! We had a great time.
