Okay all, I will be graduating with my Bachelors degree this May. Wahooo!!! So just to let you know, the commencement ceremonies and the day I walk with my school, will be on Saturday May 2nd. And we have an extra special speaker coming to the commencement ceremonies - President Monson! SUU will be giving him an honorary degree, and he will be speaking as well. So whoever wants to come down that would be great, and we can make a fun family weekend out of it with hiking, picnicing, etc.... (I know graduations aren't really that exciting, having attended a plethera of siblings graduations myself. So if you just come down and hang out with us the rest of the weekend, that is okay.)
Next update... I have been training with the track team all fall in hopes that I would be able to compete in the outdoor conference championships that we are hosting in Cedar City this year. But.... Unfortunately, I have officially hurt my foot AGAIN. I was hurdling and the exact thing happened as when I hurt it last year, just not quite as bad. I was very frustrated because I did everything possible to prevent it, my arches were taped up, I had my custom orthotics in my spikes, etc.... But I guess it just wasn't enough. There is just too much pressure being put on the tendons that wrap around my arch, so they begin to stretch out and eventually tear.
I tried to just walk it off for a couple weeks, just hoping the problem would disappear or something, but Brett finally made a deal with me that if it hurt by certain x date still, I had to go to the podiatrist. Well, long story short, my foot still hurt so I went in to have a chat with the doc yesterday, and this is the outcome. We are basically at the end of the road of options for treating it. We have tried everything known to man, we had hoped last year's experience of 7 months of crutches, a boot, and no running, had given it enough time to heal, but alas, it was apparently not. The only option really left - is reconstructive surgery for my feet - they want to reinforce my arch and repair my tendons. I am still in the process of praying and deliberating over the decision, because it will require about another 6 months-1 year of recovery time, at least. I am going to go see another podiatrist to get a 2nd opinion before I make any decisions though. But basically, I just want to be healthy again, so I'll probably do whatever it takes! Anyway, I'll keep you updated.
